Struggles

This weightloss journey hasn't been an easy one I must say. I never thought it would be easy I guess, but I have to admit that there are times when I just get frustrated.  I've been at a pretty stagnant weight for a year now.  I'm sure that part of this is due to the fact that I hit times of frustration and choose to just eat pretty much whatever.  These are the thoughts I have sometimes...  "I'm just sick of trying so hard and getting nowhere (or what feels like nowhere anyway)."  "They don't keep track of their food intake, they don't exercise."  "This sucks and life should be more fun and not suck so bad."  "Why am I putting myself through all of this...why don't I just enjoy more?"   These among others are what I get to thinking.  I'm kind of there again.  It seems that I know how to maintain really well.  But truth is, I'm not at a healthy weight right now and I need to lose again.  So am I getting in too many calories or am I not exercising enough.  I have not figured out the magic formula for myself.  I will be honest that I really don't want to give up everything.  I think things can be enjoyed in moderation and that it's the safest way.  If I totally deny myself, I think I'd end up overeating and binging on it later.  So...I'm going to keep tracking with the Lose-It application.  I'm going to try staying under the 1324 calorie budget.  I want to work on increasing exercise, getting back to the gym because summer is over and I pay $95 per month for it.  I'm going to start water aerobics twice a week, and work in other cardio and strength as well.  I get really hungry from working out.  So I also gotta work on healthy and filling snacks too.  Right now I feel such a lack of energy. Why?  I think it has to do with my husband losing his job and feeling the affects of the reduced income.  We were scraping by when both of us were working.  Now, I'm just a little stressed and scared.  I'm in the middle of this storm and I know this will pass.  I know I'm not given anything more than what I can handle and I know that I will be stronger when the storm has passed.  It's just a difficult time right now.  But I'm really trying to put up a good fight.

More later,
Dottie♥

Emotions and Derailment

I stepped on that awful scale this morning. Why?  Not sure.  I knew I'd see a gain...a number I wouldn't be happy with.  It was true.  267 displayed across the screen. Ugh.  I can't be upset about it though because when you don't exercise as much and you're eating not so great...the scale will reflect the behavior.

My dad having cancer and knowing he will not get better is obviously affecting me emotionally on very large levels.  I still feel numb really.  I feel sad though too.  I did want to cry this morning after getting on the scale.  I've also had a headache for days.  It's been raining and cold weatherwise.  And it's Shark Week (that Time of Month).  It's all raining down on me.  And it's quite evident that when it comes to eating, I'm not as strong as I'd like to be.

This week, I've consumed things I shouldn't be.  Soda pop, burgers, french fries, chicken nuggets, plenty of chocolate.  Now I'm not saying that I can't ever have stuff like this, but I should be limiting it for certain.

There was a time earlier in the year, beginning of summer maybe, when exercise was a passion, healthy food, nutrition, fitness, etc. All of it was a passion.  If I didn't get to exercise, I was upset.  Of course, all through that time, I didn't lose any weight.  But I still exercised and enjoyed it.  It's pretty much been in the last couple weeks since finding out about my dad that this train of fitness has derailed.

The thing is though...I need to get the emotions in check because I don't want to gain anymore weight back.  I don't want to fail.  I don't want to have to go back on blood sugar or blood pressure meds. I don't want any of that.  I certainly don't want to see 300 again.  So, even with all the emotional stuff going on, I need to find strength.  I need to make the right choices, I need to exercise.  Even though my dad's life is coming to a close, doesn't mean mine should.  Something as tough as this even shouldn't be an excuse to allow myself to treat myself so poorly.

Why do we do this?  Why do I do this?  The junk food certainly isn't helping anything! The lack of exercise isn't helping anything. It's not making dad better and it's not making you better!  Yes, now I'm talking to myself!  Think about this!  What do you want?  Think about this, your mom passed away at the age of 56 due to morbid obesity related issues.  You hated seeing her in that condition. It hurt you.  Your dad, age 60 is basically dying of lung cancer that has traveled to the brain.  He spent a life of smoking and drinking and drugs. (Luckily you didn't get into any of that).  However, food was your drug.  You've got that addictive behavior gene. You need to listen to the mind and focus.  You need to remember that you are worth it.  Yes, it is hard work. No, you can not give up.  You can not ever give up.  NGU!

What do you want?
I want to be healthy.
I don't want to die young.
I don't want my kids to see me suffering from morbid obesity related issues.
I want to be fit.
I want to be muscular and active.
I want to have grandkids one day and see them graduate high school.
I want to be under 200 lbs.
I want to be able to run.
I want to be able to jump and dance.
I want to LIVE.

Make a plan that you can stick to and go for it. These things can be yours. YOU have to want it enough. YOU have to work for it.  Are you a coward? Are you afraid?  You're NOT and you shouldn't be!!  BELIEVE IN YOURSELF MISS DOTTIE MAY!

A very good friend shared this video with me...it's quite awesome. To that friend...you're awesome and I thank God for you.

Exercise

Last week I started TurboFire.  It's an awesome workout. However, I'm here to admit that it's one that I'm just not ready for.  Twice during the week, I broke down in tears midway through the program.  It's tough and I just couldn't keep up most of the time.  Therefore, I didn't find it fun for sure and I had a very difficult time getting motivated each morning to push "Play".  Additionally, the scale didn't move at the end of the week either.  After a week of doing my best at TurboFire, all I got out of it was unhappiness, some stress and frustration.

If I must exercise to not only lose weight, but to maintain health, then darn it I should be able to have some fun with it.  Another 50 lbs or so then I'll probably be ready for it. But now, no.  So... time for more change.

Exercise needs to be enjoyable and something I can do or I just won't want to do it.  If I don't want to do it, then I won't push myself to do my best and the workout just won't be as effective.  SO - I'm sticking to those things I can do and enjoy.  I have several Leslie Sansone Walk DVDs and those, I can do.  This morning I chose the 4 Mile Intensity Walk which is a 60 minute workout.  I got through the whole thing and I felt good about it.

Yesterday, the weather was gorgeous so I took advantage of that and went for two separate walks.  I took a mile long walk on a break at work.  Then, in the evening I took my dog Zoey out for a walk. We walked nearly 2 miles.  I felt really good about those too.

I happen to have my monthly friend this week so despite all the exercise, I'm pretty sure the scale won't show any improvement.  This TOM thing really messes with my eating.  I get cravings that are nearly impossible to control.  Additionally, I feel like a bottomless pit.  I never feel satisfied. What's up with that!?!  That's not good.

My lesson... don't kill yourself with the exercise.  Do something you know you enjoy and give it all you got and then some!  You'll be further ahead.  I know it.

Hope your week is going well.

Poke for Fitness

Call me crazy!  I've just joined the Poke 4 Fitness group on Facebook.  I'm not really sure who started it - I can check that later.  But, I've joined it and that means more fitness being added to my day.  The idea is that for every poke you receive on Facebook, you do some sort of exercise - whatever you choose.  Me, I chose crunches.  More specifically, I chose to do 5 regular crunches, 5 reverse crunches, 5 left and 5 right oblique crunches for a total of 20 crunches per poke! What was I thinking?!?  Yesterday, I ended the day doing 280 crunches.  Who would've thought I could ever do that many?  Surely not me!  I surprised myself.  I took little breaks between each set of 20.  I honestly don't know how long it took me to do all of them because I didn't pay attention to a clock.  But I did every one of them. Whew!  It's a great way for me to up my exercise each day.  Crazier yet...I solicit pokes!  Most of those in the group do.  Surprisingly, so far I'm not experiencing any pain in my abs yet.  However, my neck is kind of sore today and it's been causing a lingering headache.  It's quite possible I had poor crunch form and my neck played a role when it clearly shouldn't be.  I need to work on that.  As Jillian Michaels would say - "No injuries please."

Today, I started my day with the TurboFire HIIT15 and Stretch 10.  This is day 3 of waking early in the morning to get some exercise in.  I'm pretty darn proud of myself for that.  Tomorrow is a rest day for TurboFire according to the schedule.  But, I'll be taking no rests from exercise.  I'll probably do the Biggest Loser Last Chance Workout tomorrow!  I'm truly surprising myself with my level of exercise.  But, I love it.

I was thinking today... as an elementary aged child, whenever someone asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up; my answer was a gym teacher.  In highschool; I wanted to be a body builder.  Even then I had fitness in my mind.  Problem is...instead of becoming either of those, I became a morbidly obese I.T. geek.  I'm working on the obese part and doing well.  And as a result of the weightloss and increased activity, I'm finding way less interest in sitting around in I.T. all day.  Perhaps it's time to go for another career...chase one of those dreams.  Maybe not necessarily a gym teacher; but perhaps a fitness coach. That I think would allow me to maintain my activity and share what I've come to love with others.  People could see that it is possible because I was once VERY obese.  Yep, this job just doesn't fit well anymore and I have a difficult time coming here every morning.

Where to look, where to start, what to do...  Whatever it is - I want to be happy.  My current job isn't providing that.

Ok gotta go for now.

Peace, Love and Smiles

TurboFire!

I purchased TurboFire as a gift to myself back in January.  Since then, my husband signed us up for a gym and I haven't used it.  Now, this isn't so cheap so I've been telling myself that gym membership or not, I need to find time to use that TurboFire.  In case you are not aware, TurboFire is one of many Beach Body products.  Perhaps you've heard of the popular P90X?

Well, this morning I actually woke up early and popped that DVD in and pushed play!  Today's workout was the Fire 30 class and the Stretch 10 class.  I gotta say, I had a little difficulty keeping up with the Fire 30, but I did my best and never stopped moving.  I'm certainly not as light on my feet as Chalene Johnson (the instructor is). Nor am I built like that.  However, if I keep pushing play, then I'll get better with keeping up.  So, that is my plan...continue to wake up early and do the program.  Hit PLAY!  I hope I follow through with this.

In the evening, we'll still be hitting the gym.

Oh and if that's not enough; I've decided to join in on the poke for fitness fun on Facebook. For every poke I receive, I'm doing 5 regular crunches, 5 reverse crunches and 5 each of left and right oblique crunches for a total of 20 crunches per poke!  Call me crazy.  Yesterday I made it through 195 crunches.  I have a little catching up to do tonight.  I'm amazing that I'm not terribly sore from all that.  I'm even more amazed that I could do them. But it's really not all that bad when you're doing 5 at a time.  I take a little breather between each set of 20.  I'm keeping track of all these pokes in an Excel spreadsheet.

Fitness has become a part of my life.  I'm fighting this fat with everything I got!  I hope you can say the same.

Have a fabulous day!

P.S. Tonight - I celebrate my daughter's 16th birthday!  Time flies!

Beautiful Day!

Today was an absolutely perfect day.  The weather was picture perfect..I was so grateful.

I started the day by doing some Wii Fit Plus activities – about 1/2 hour worth.  Boy did some of those yoga moves hurt!  I did my best though. I got rather excited when my scoring indicated “Yoga Trainer” on a couple of activities and “Body Builder” on another.  I got a good little chuckle out of that. The last time I used the Wii was late July and I’ve lost just over 10 lbs since (according to the Wii).  I’m happy with that.

Another excellent thing happened today.  I went for my very first motorcycle ride…well in at least 20 years anyway.  I’ve always been too heavy and too scared.  Today, I went out and I’m not going to say I wasn’t nervous at first, but I have to admit it was pretty cool.  My husband was excited too.  He even said we could do a Fall color tour on the bike.  Not sure I’m ready for such a long ride like that yet. I was a little sore after the ride, perhaps because I was a bit tense at first.  But it was incredible to see nature and things from a different view.   Like I said already, the weather was perfect.

I weighed in this morning and was 173 lbs. That’s down 1.5 pounds this past week. I’ll take it!

Another week of work starts tomorrow. I can’t believe the weekend is nearly done already.  But it was a great weekend – I can’t complain.

You know, I’ve gone through quite a bit in my weight loss journey; but I’ve have to say that I believe – in the words of Miley Cyrus – Life is what you make it!

Hot 4 Halloween - Day 31

Tuesday!! Ok, so really as I write this, it's Wednesday and it’s September 1st already! Gosh! This is the first year in some time that I’m just not ready for Fall and Winter. Please – I plead, someone slow down the clock a bit. LOL! Being a You Tuber challenge contestant could really be a part time job in and of itself. Trying to keep up with everyone’s videos and commenting and offering support…Boy, if only I could get paid for it. HaHa. I really couldn’t do that. I’m in the challenge for me; to better myself; get fit and meeting friends and possibly being an inspiration along the way is definitely a perk! I really am getting into this challenge and I love watching other’s videos and cheering them on. I understand there will be another Stickam coaching session tonight. I hope to have my laptop with the webcam and speaker up and going so that I can take part. I’ve never done that before. So, we’ll see!

I posted my Phatloss Contest finale video. That contest ran from June 1 to Today (Sept. 1). I did fine in my opinion. I didn’t win the money, but that is honestly okay by me. These contests and challenges help to keep me motivated and push me to keep on track and I’m successful! I lost 20.5 lbs in the contest and I have lost inches I’m sure because my face and neck definitely show it. You can see my finale video HERE if you are interested.

My food today was fine and exercise, well not so much. I pretty much took the day off from exercise.

FOOD

Breakfast – 6 oz. Cottage Cheese with Peaches
Lunch – ¾ cup Chili topped with shredded cheddar cheese
Snack- Dannon Greek Style Blueberry Yogurt
Dinner- Chinese Takeout. 2 crab rangoons, 2 dumplings, and 3 small pieces of sesame chicken.
Late Snack – a couple more dumplings from dinner.

Oh and I tried something new today and was later disappointed in myself. It was a Green Tea with Organic Honey. The brand – Honest Tea. It was tasty I’ll admit, but dingbat me didn’t read the label too well and later discovered it had caffeine. I’ve been trying to steer clear of caffeine so this kind of blew that. But I only drank about 6 oz. of it or so. So at least it was limited.

Keep on keepin' on!!

Hot 4 Halloween - Days 26-29

How does this happen?  I get 4 days behind in my blog in the blink of an eye. Why must time go so fast? Seriously.  I would like to request that it slow down a bit. Everyone - please quit wishing it were Friday and just enjoy each day...cherish it.

Day 26 - Thursday 8/26/10
Breakfast - 1 cup of oatmeal sweetened with brown sugar and raisins, 1/2 pint of skim milk
Lunch - Hummus with 8 small pita points (wedges)...SO GOOD!
Snack - Container of Dannon Wildberry Yogurt
Dinner - My husband and I enjoyed dinner out at a local restaurant called Hibachi Grill.  My plate included 2 dumplings, a piece of baked fish, a few pieces of bourbon chicken, 2 crab cheese rangoon and a little broccoli.  But I didn't eat all of it.
Late Snack - 1 string cheese

Water throughout the day.

Day 27 - Friday 8/27/10
I had to travel to an off site training class today (Windows 7).  I believe my choices were fine.
Breakfast - 3 slices lean deli Black Forest Ham, 2 oz. medium cheddar cheese
Snack - .75 oz. Peanuts
Lunch - 1/2 Turkey and Cheese with lettuce, mayo/mustard on whole wheat.
Snack - .75 oz. Peanuts (the other half of package)
We had our first home football game and there I had 1 hot dog with ketchup, pickle, onion and mustard. I also sipped a PowerAde while we were watching the game.
Later that night, I had a small chef salad...I didn't eat all of it.

Day 28 - Saturday 8/28/10
The weekend and I have no schedule to my eating and as a matter of fact, I definitely didn't eat enough.  I worked on cleaning and keeping busy.  My food included:
1 piece of Little Caesar's Italian Cheese Bread
Hibachi Grill for dinner with the kids and extended kids.  Again, I didn't finish my plate.

Day 29 - Sunday 8/29/10
1 small Dannon Greek Yogurt - Honey flavor
1 ice pop
2 oz. Rotisserie Chicken Breast with 1 tbsp of macaroni & cheese.
Late snack - Icee (Frozen Raspberry Lemonade).

My exercise for these days were mostly household activities - like cleaning windows, cleaning up after the dogs, up and down stairs doing laundry, cleaned out my closet and filled two bags (3rd in progress) of my former fat clothes that I'll be donating.  I was very busy.  Plus, the football game Friday night - got some walking in there.

Something worked, because I got on the scale Sunday morning and weighed 275 lbs which is 5.5 lbs down from last week!!

Oh and I did my NGU challenge activity on Sunday.  25 Burpees for time was a killer.  I'd never even heard of a burpee before (at least not that kind).  If you want to see some hard work placed on my still big body...check it out here.  You've been warned.  It isn't pretty, but I did it and that's what matters to me!  I am kickin' fat's butt!

Hot 4 Halloween - Day 20

Posting on Saturday for yesterday.  I worked until 6 p.m. yesterday, came home to the yard sale still going on.  It's been busy!  This morning it's raining so all of the stuff is still covered with tarps. Rain should clear up soon.  Yesterday was one of those ho hum days...lacked some motivation to even go to work. Maybe it was a Friday thing?  Who knows.

THE FOOD
Breakfast - Scrambled eggs with ham, mushroom, onion and cheddar cheese. 1-1/2 slice bacon.
Citrus Green Tea

Lunch - 1/2 wrap (Spinach flavored) with Turkey, Swiss, Tomato, Onion, Black Olive, Pickle and Pesto Mayo

Snack - 1/4 cup Honey Roasted Peanuts
After Work Snack - 1 String Cheese

Dinner - 2 oz. Steak, 1 egg

Snack - Small Ice Pop

Sipped on Water and Gatorade today.

EXERCISE
Again, no formal exercise.  Having the yard sale with so many people and lots to do has thrown me off a bit.  When I did finally settle after we closed for the evening, I did sit on the exercise ball while I watched TV and did some lifting of the dumbbells.  But I don't know if that really counts...  I suppose it's better than just sitting on the couch vegging and doing absolutely nothing.  It's a productive way to watch TV - yeah that's it!

Til later tonight or perhaps tomorrow morning...I bid you well. Make smart choices!

P.S.  Today is my husband's birthday!

Hot for Halloween - Day 19

Thursday...another day at work.  Today was fine at work although lately I'm feeling like I should not only get paid more, but I want to explore more.  I currently support many of the Microsoft products with much of the focus on Outlook because email seems to be quite important to many.  The way our company sets up the storage for PST files (like the archive folders) has caused numerous nightmare situations.  I was getting to the point of being utterly SICK of Outlook and especially archives.  Our company chooses to store the PST on a network drive so that it can be restored should something happen to the file. Microsoft recommendation is to store the files locally on the hard drive and that's what they support.  So, needless to say I've had to muddle my way through some tough situations at times with this stupid PST nightmare.  There may be relief in site however. Exchange 2010 will host archives at the server level!  I'm looking forward to it.  Today, I took a break away from Outlook and launched SharePoint Designer and began to play; err... learn.  The day flew by and before I knew it, it was time to leave.  This evening has been spent getting ready for a yard sale that we are having tomorrow and Friday.  I'll be honest, I can't stand doing them...I just pretty much donate my yard to friends. It's almost like a flea market - ha ha!  We've been busy though getting tables set up and pricing stuff that we are putting in, etc.  Enough about my awfully exciting day...move on to the food and exercise.

FOOD INTAKE
Breakfast - 1 cup oatmeal with 1 tbsp. raisins and a tbsp brown sugar. 1/2 pint skim milk
Lunch - 1 cup Potato Garlic soup topped with 1 tbsp shredded cheddar cheese.
Snack - 1 string cheese, palm full of trail mix.
Dinner - 4 chicken fries, 1 tbs. mashed potatoes and 4 small crab wontons.

I know dinner was just a hodge podge...basically I picked of my families plates.

Now for the not so good part -

EXERCISE
I didn't do any today.  With how busy we've been setting up for the yard sale, just didn't find the time.  Plus, I'll be honest...my feet are still burning with pain from my 3.4 mile walk yesterday.  My poor tootsies!

And there you have it... Thursday in a nutshell.

Until tomorrow - keep on keepin' on!

♥ Dottie

Hot for Halloween - Day 18

It was Wednesday - hump day as some call it. The middle of the week (2 days down and 2 to go  until we are upon another weekend).  My day was great.  Worked as usual and as usual, that was okay.  After work, I came home, had a quick snack and headed out for a walk.  My goal was to try doing a 5K (just over 3 miles) and guess what!  I did it.  And, considering it was my first 5K EVER, I think I did pretty darn good on my time too.  I seriously had no idea how long it would take me, but and hour and 13 minutes...YES! I think that's just awesome and quite amazing too.  I struggled to walk a mile back in June.  The exercise is paying off because I am feeling stronger!

MY FOOD TODAY:
Breakfast - scrambled eggs with vegs and 2 slices bacon.
Lemonade flavored Vitamin Water Zero

Lunch - 5" wrap made with spinach flavored tortilla with chicken breast, spinach/artichoke, 1 slice swiss, mushrooms and red onion.

Snack - 1/4 cup honey roasted peanuts

After work Snack - 1 string cheese

Dinner - 1 Salmon patty with a slice of cheese melted on top.  1 tbsp mash potato with 1 tsp. mushroom gravy.

Enjoyed some Gatorade after my walk.

EXERCISE:
My Walk - 5K - 3.4 miles in 1 hour and 13 minutes.  I burned 511 calories today!  By the way this is an app available on my Samsung Moment phone.  It's called Cardio Trainer and it was free through the Marketplace.  I like it.

Until next time,
♥ Dottie

Hot for Halloween - Day 17

Hello friends. I hope this finds you all doing well in your journeys. Today was another fine day. The weather has actually cooled off...definitely not as humid and we've been able to open up the windows and enjoy some fresh air. With all the humidity we'd been having, air conditioning was a must. Today it was in the upper 70's and this evening, I'm guessing it's in the 50's. I was actually a bit chilly. I've noticed with all the weight that I've lost so far, I'm a lot more sensitive to the temperature. I actually get chilly now. Before at nearly 400 lbs., I was my own jacket, blanket, etc. I went all winter last year wearing simply a sweater in place of a jacket. I didn't have one that fit and didn't go out much anyway. This year will be different. I'll need to buy a jacket for sure.

My food today was fine as well. I did have a little treat (1 chocolate chip cookie). I think we need to allow ourselves a treat now and then. I only had one cookie, it tasted good and that was that. I don't feel guilty or anything.

FOOD FOR THE DAY:

Breakfast - Scrambled eggs with chopped ham, scallions, mushrooms, and swiss cheese...topped with a little fresh salsa. 1 Slice Bacon

Snack - 1 Chocolate Chip Cookie

Lunch - 1/2 (5") wrap made with a tomato flavored tortilla, deli turkey, roasted vegetables, 1 slice smoked gouda and a bit of pesto mayo.

Snack - 2 dill pickle spears
After Work Snack - 1 String Cheese

Dinner - 2 oz. Jennie-O Roast Turkey Breast and 2 tbsp mash potatoes topped with gravy from the Turkey.

Snack - Icee (Frozen lemonade)

EXERCISE:
I went for my bike ride! Today I rode 8.4 miles which is an improvement from my last ride which was 7 miles. There were parts of the ride that were quite tough for me...it's amazing how those small little hills you drive over with a car suddenly seem so huge on a bicycle. I completed the ride in just over an hour! I'm getting closer and closer to my goal of riding 10 miles by the end of September. I try to up the distance with each ride. I really feel good about my accomplishments thus far!

Make it a good day. Keep on keepin' on,

♥ Dottie

Hot for Halloween - Day 16

Again, a day late on my blog update. This update is for August 16. Here we go.

Monday – Day #16…what can you say about a Monday? Monday, like any other day is whatever you make of it. My Monday was just fine. I woke up and went to work. Got home, had a snack and then had to go work at the high school until 9 p.m. I volunteer selling Scrip (a fundraiser for our band program). I have two daughters in band. I enjoy helping out…it puts my computer skills to work for the good of the program. I got home around 9:30 p.m. and had a quick bite for dinner. I know that’s pretty late, but that’s just the way Monday’s are. No exercise today. I believe Monday will probably be the one day that I don’t exercise because of how full the day is…unless I happen to wake up nice and early and get in a morning workout. But the chance of that is pretty slim because I’m just not much of a morning person. After dinner, I recorded my Hot 4 Halloween Week 2 update vlog and posted it to You Tube. I spent some time watching a few videos as well. I really need to stay focused to keep on top of these videos. I hope not to miss any. I’m thoroughly enjoying them though and getting some great ideas for various workouts. I’m meeting some great people. I can’t tell you how wonderful it is to come across so many with similar goals; People that won’t judge me negatively or make fun. That means so much. I’ve also been posting some videos of me doing exercise challenges. This vlogging has really been helping improve my self confidence I must say. Last year, there is absolutely no way I would’ve done any of this and posted it online for all to see. I love the people I’m meeting and if you are reading this, I thank YOU for your kindnesses and support.

FOOD:
Breakfast – 1 cup oatmeal with ½ pint of skim milk
Lunch – 5 inch wrap made with Tomato tortilla, chicken, ham, swiss cheese, tomato, onion and honey mustard
Snack – ¼ cup honey roasted peanuts.
After work snack – 7 tortilla chips each dipped in some onion, onion dip (made with Tastefully Simple’s Onion Onion spice blend and sour cream)
Dinner – Shrimp Egg Foo Yung about a tbsp with a tbsp white rice, 3 dumplings and 2 crab cheese rangoons. Water – about 55 oz. Better than usual, but still room for improvement.

EXERCISE: None today. Keep on keepin’ on!!

♥ Dottie

Hot for Halloween - Day 15

Today was a wonderful day. Friends of our gave us tickets to the races! The Carfax 400 at Michigan International Speedway! I'd never been to a NASCAR race so I was excited. We arrived around 12:15. Found a spot to park and walked a good mile atleast to get to our seats. I was SO red and SO hot by the time we got to the seats. I was practically pouring water over my face, down my shirt, etc. After the race, same thing on the way back to the car. It was still sunny and warm. Luckily, it was not as humid as its been...I'm grateful for that.

Food intake for the day:
The ham, egg and a little cheese off from a croissant sandwich
1/2 Frozen Lemonade at the races (about 6 oz.)

Plenty of Gatorade, Powerade to restore those electrolytes.

Stopped at A&W on the way home and I had 1 Coney Cheese Dog and 2 onion rings. Also took a few sips of my husband's rootbeer.

String Cheese

Water throughout the day as well.

Exercise: the walking to and from the stands at the races! A little over 2 miles.

I wish I had tomorrow off work...I feel like I could spend a good day just resting.

I weighed myself this morning and was 282.5. I weighed myself this evening and was 281. Geesh! WTH!!

Until tomorrow...

Hot for Halloween - Day 13

So this is truly the 13th day of the Hot for Halloween challenge, however because I just started this blog, this is my 2nd day of recording. Nonetheless..here we go.

Today, the 13th day of August and also Friday...started out just fine. I got up and went to work. It wasn't until later in the afternoon that my dear Aunt Flo decided to visit! Cramps set in and I felt like crap. I'll be honest, when I have cramps, the last thing I wanna do is exercise. So I knew when I got home, I'd have to push myself. And I did. I'm also part of another challenge from You Tube called the NGU Challenge (for August). A new challenge starts each month. You should try it out sometime. Each week is a new physical challenge. This week's challenge is being termed the Albert Haynesworth Test. You can learn the specifics by checking out this video! Basically, I had to SIX 50 yard shuttle runs (25 yards down and back) within 70 seconds!!! Take a 3.5 minute rest and then repeat it, but this time within 73 seconds!! I approached the challenge with the mindset of "the reality is I know I'm not NFL football material so there's no way I'll do those SIX 50 yard shuttle runs in 70 seconds!" I'm wasn't being negative, I was being real. So my goal was just to complete in whatever timeframe I could. I'm 284 pounds and I've still got quite a bit of fat up front in the tummy area. And it flaps around, smacks the skin and makes noise, affects my head and therefore affects my run (or attempt to run). It was tough, but I did finish it and I didn't exactly run...it was more of a brisk walk for most of it. I finished each set in a little over 3 minutes. I was pretty whipped and my cramps got worse from it. I truly felt like crap! The video for You Tube will be posted tomorrow. I'm proud I finished it. Bottom line: I failed the Albert Haynesworth Test. But I'm a winner for not giving up and giving it my best.

Food Report...

BREAKFAST: 2 scrambled eggs with 2 tbsp cheddar cheese, 1 slice of bacon and a 15 oz. Fuze (banana colada flavor).

LUNCH: 1 cup Chili (compare to Wendy's) topped with 1 tbsp cheddar cheese

DINNER: Dinner out with the family at Applebees. I shared a Appetizer platter and specifically had 1 quesadilla triangle, 1 chicken wing, 1 mozzarella stick and about 10 tortilla chips with the spinach/artichoke dip. I also had 1/2 of a Cherry Limeade.

SNACK: Ice Pop

I feel rather bloated today and didn't feel all that hungry at all today. I also didn't get enough water in. I REALLY need to work on that.

Sweet Dreams~

Hot for Halloween - A Challenge

One of the purposes of this blog will be to record my progress in this challenge that I've entered. It's the Hot for Halloween 2 challenge that I entered via You Tube! Here's the announcement video (in case you are curious as to what it is). Although it's too late to enter, you're welcome to cheer everyone on.

My specific goals for the challenge were to lose 25-30 pounds and be comfortable enough with myself to actually dress up for Halloween this year. I haven't dressed up since I was a kid. I'd like to this year. While I don't have any plans for Halloween...I could still dress up! My plan of attack to meet these goals: eat right and exercise. Sounds simple.

The challenge officially began August 1. So, we are currently in our 2nd week. I've been placed on Team 1, with the requirement to post an update video between Sunday and Wednesday. My starting weight for the challenge was 286 lbs. On August 7 (the first update), I was 283.5. I lost 2.5 pounds the first week! Awesome! I exercised 7 out of 7 days that week and I was even on vacation from work - YES!!

With this blog I intend to record my food and my exercise for the duration of the challenge (through Oct. 31).

Follow along for my trip to fitness!
