Weigh In

Last week, the number on the scale was awesome. But I had help in having such a great loss. I was sick with the flu. While I liked the number on the scale, I knew it probably would go up some after I started eating food again. I knew I wouldn't be able to continue a popsicle and ginger-ale diet forever.

So... I got on that scale this morning not sure how much I would be up. I was at 391. That's 5 lbs. up from last week. However, the week before that I was at 396 so if I look at it from that weigh in, I'm 5 lbs. down. So of the 10 I lost from being sick, I've managed to keep 5 of it off. That's not bad. Overall, I've lost more than 10 lbs now so I've added a new badge to my side bar over there.

Hope all is well with everyone.

Weigh In

I'm entering my weigh-in today. It's been a bit since I've posted. Last week my household had to deal with the flu. Yuk! It was no fun. My husband got sick Monday and was down til Wednesday. Me and the girls got sick Wednesday. I finally felt better by Saturday morning. And I must say the only good thing to come of it is the number on the scale. I had to get on that scale more than once to even believe it. However, I'm not sure how long it'll last since I'm back to eating some food again. But, I'll try to keep the weight away.

386 is what that scale told me. Can you believe it? I can't. Nothing like losing 10 lbs. in a week. However, it is because I was sick.

Since I was sick, my last few days have been very lazy. But I also wasn't eating anything. Ginger Ale and Popsicles were about it. Today I had some soup and some cottage cheese with pinapple. I'm also drinking a Lipton PureLeaf Red Tea in a Blueberry Pomegranate flavor. It's not bad.

I hope you are all doing well and keeping on top of your game the best you can.

Weigh In

Good afternoon my blogger friends!

Last night I got on that wonderful scale and it displayed 394...should've went with that. This morning, it displayed 396. So that's the official number. What am I talking about? There is no official number because I'll get on that scale later today and it'll say something else. That's the one thing I really don't like about the scale. Things in the body flucuate or something I eat or that time of month...it all makes that number move just a bit either up or down. So, I'm just going to say that I feel good this week. I don't feel bloated and extra heavy. I think the way I feel is far more important than what that scale says anyway.

Wanna here something astonishing! I signed up for a walking challenge at work. It's 6 weeks long and it starts on the 18th. The first week's goal will be to average 2000 steps per day. Week 2 - 4000, week 3 - 6000, week 4 - 8000, week 5 - 10000 and the final 6th week is designated as a catch up week. Our company operates in 5 states. So if you meet the first week's goal, then you move forward to the next state, and it continues each week until you make your way back to the state you started in. There will be a large map posted on a wall somewhere that will have team pushpins and where they're at each week. I have never done anything like this so it's a very big step for me. I'm not quite sure how accurate the pedometer will be for someone of my size. I noticed it does have a sensitivty adjuster on it so maybe it'll be fine. I'm looking forward to see how I do. I'll just do my best.

Well, that's all I got for now. I hope everyone is having a beautiful day.

Weigh In

I don't think I want to call this a weigh in because I didn't weigh myself this morning. I just know that I haven't lost though. It's that TOM and I'm feeling bloated and irritable and the past week has just been blah. I do know that I have identified some issues I need to resolve or this weight will simply not go anywhere. I've been eating dinner a little too late (that's not cool). I've also not been getting in enough water during the day - another no no.

I'll be honest, I've been getting sick of all the Mother's Day advertising and such. My mom passed away in 2006 and this has been a difficult time each year since. I guess it's only been a couple years and maybe that's why it's still so difficult. I can honestly say that I haven't been trying too hard in the last week with my weight loss mission. I've been eating like those that don't have to work at it. Just eating when I'm hungry and having what I think sounds good. Looking back over the last week I can't say as though I've over-eaten at all. The problem is probably lack of exercise and water. Now if I added those two to the mix, I'm thinking I'd have better luck. But for whatever reason at this moment I just feel numb about things. It's probably the Mother's Day thing. Plus, my daughter is having surgery on Friday. It's nothing extreme (foot surgery), but this is a first surgery for my child and I tend to get nervous about things.

Anyway, I hope you all are having a better time of things. And, I do wish all you mothers a Happy Mother's Day.

Weigh-In Time

It's not good weigh in for me today. I'm 3 pounds UP. Hello! Ok, reality check here. I think I know why this is. The past week or so I haven't been eating much at all during the day at work. As I think about it, I don't think I ate anything during the day. Jeepers. I wasn't hungry and therefore was not thinking about food and so I didn't eat. Not cool, because my body probably thought it was starving and started storing the fat. Lesson learned. I'm going to make it a point to do better with that this coming week.

A little bummed, but I know what I gotta do. I'm in this to win this! Whose with me!

Weigh-In Time

It's been a week already? Where does time go. And, why does it seem to go faster and faster? I don't like how fast time seems to go. Well..okay maybe I should clarify a bit. I like it when time goes fast while I am at work. But when I exit those office building doors, I wish time would just slow down a bit you know?

I got on that scale this morning and something inside wouldn't settle down because the reading kept going between 394.5 and 395. What do you do? I'd rather take the lower, however, I'm going to record the higher as the official number. That puts me down a 1/2 pound..and that's what 2 sticks of butter. Yay me!!

Remember that show that was on "I Can Make You Thin"? I never really got to watch it, but I did check out the website briefly and remember reading "Eat when you're hungry". I've noticed lately that I can go the better part of a day before I really feel hungry. Now I'm guessing that's because I sit down for the better part of 8 hours so I'm not doing much to get any metabolism I have going. I've also heard that to kick start the metabolism, you should eat breakfast within an hour of waking. But... I'm not hungry. Someone else said that going that long without eating, will cause your body to go into starvation mode and start storing fat. Yeah... don't need that. I know... I'm being a whiney butt and I need to stop this freakin' insanity!

I'm done now. I will catch up on some of my blog reading. I wish you all success in the coming week. This can be done! It's a challenge we can all overcome!

Weigh-In Time

I was on vacation all last week and weighed in this morning at 395.5. I gained a half pound. I don't think that's all too bad considering I was on vacation and my dog was killed and I got very emotional. I'm sorry to mention that again, but I am bothered by it. I still haven't faced the neighbor; although I did email her yesterday to tell her I needed some time and space. I just don't even know what I'm going to think when I see them and see that dog that attacked mine! I could never hurt a dog intentionally, but with how angry I was about it all, I was afraid I might want to kick it or something. So I'm just taking some time to chill.

Vacation is supposed to be a time for your spirit to renew and feel better. But it just didn't happen for me and it stinks. I did enjoy the trip and all the sights...but everyday I thought about the dog I would never see again. It was bittersweet I guess.

Emotionally, I'm feeling a bit like a train wreck. I haven't binged or anything though. Amazing...maybe I'm starting to have some control over this food relationship.

Anyway, I'm not so concerned about this half pound gain. I got other things on my mind. Now that the nicer weather seems to finally be here, I'm hoping to get moving outside more.

Enjoy your day!

Weigh-In Time

Grrr!! I'm up 1/2 pound. But I guess after the emotional issues and somewhat poor choices, I really shouldn't be surprised. I didn't do terrible and I'm not going to beat myself up over it.

Next week I will be on vacation...so looking forward to it! I don't plan to pig out or have free-for-alls; however, I'm not going to stress out over any of it either. I intend to eat when I'm hungry. Plus... I'm thinking we will be doing quite a bit of walking and exploring so it really shouldn't be an issue.

Thanks so much for your continued support. I really appreciate it.

HAVE A GREAT WEEK EVERYONE!! WE CAN DO IT!

Weigh-In Time

My official weight was 394.5 which is down a pound from last week. I can't complain considering everything over the last week...Easter and emotions and such. I've been trying to be more active, but it is very difficult for me. I've managed to cut out the soda from my day time hours, however, I still am drinking it in the evening and I think that may be one of the things that is a bit of a hinderance. I know it's not good for me, but I just don't feel ready to completely give it up. Maybe I'll have to save it for those times when we go out...treat it as a "treat". I can not do diet soda. The artificial sweetners are just yucky to me and some of them I've noticed actually make me feel sick. So... I steer clear. I hope everyone else is doing well and I'll be doing my best to make my rounds to your blogs. I am really enjoying this support we have for each other. I am seriously finding the accountability I was hoping for too. When I am tempted with something... I have started to think... "okay how will this affect my weigh in and is it something that I'm ready to share on my blog for others to see." Take this morning... I'm on my way to work and for some reason Burger King sounds good for breakfast. I questioned... "Am I Hungry?" Not really...Do I really want this or am I trying to cover some emotion? I drove right on by. I was pretty proud of that. Ok... I'm done blabbing on this post. I still want to do one about my mom because today is her birthday.

Weekly Weigh In

Well, I did have a gain this week and it was expected because TOM is here. Ugh! But, it was only a 1.5 pound gain...which compared to the past is very minimal for me. I've been known to have a good 5-7 lb. gain during TOM. So really, I'm okay with it.

I have a couple NSV's for this week. I'm drinking water during the day at work. It used to be that I would drink at least one 20 oz. soda while at work during the day. But for the last week (not counting the weekend), I've drank nothing but water while at work. I'm pretty proud of that. I do still indulge in some soda at night, but I figure I need to eliminate it slowly. I've also been snacking on pecans and almonds between my breakfast and lunch. They are high in protein. The fats they contain are the healthier fats.

So, while the scale didn't go down this week I do feel good about my NSV's. I hope everyone else is doing great and keeping up the great work.

WE CAN DO THIS!! Thank you so much for the support thus far. It is very much appreciated!

P.S. I'm giving myself the NSV badge this week.

Healthy YOU Challenge

After spending some time reading a lot of wonderful blogs, I've decided that I'm going to step up and join this healthy you challenge. I think it'll be a great opportunity to have some accountability/support and meet others who are struggling with weight. If you visit here and aren't part of it, why not check it out. Click on the image below to go to the site. I've also added a button to my side bar. Like a saying from a very popular teen musical - "We're All in this Together".

And another saying from the same musical - "I'm Gettin' my head in the game!" :) Ok, can you tell I have two teenage daughters!!

My first order of business is going to be to create that list of reasons why I want to lose weight and I will be posting it here for all to see.
