I really like to blog when I have something on my mind; but it would appear that I really lack in creativity when it comes to creating a title for the entry. I figure the H4H - Day whatever has to be boring the crap out of everyone. I also figure that reading whatever I eat may be boring the crap out of some. But, there also might be at least one person out there who appreciates me writing this down; other than me that is.
Today is Saturday, 9/11 and of course its a day that has become a day no American will ever forget. On this day we remember the tragedy that struck and take a moment of silence for those that were taken on that day as well as their families. It seems hard to believe its been 9 years already. I remember where I was at that moment. I suppose its much like my grandparents remember where they were during the attacks on Pearl Harbor or my mom remembering where she was when Kennedy was shot. Sad things happen and it is unfortunate. I just hope that our country can grow and learn. To those affected by times of sadness - I wish you peace and comfort.
I have had a great day so far spending time with my family and my kids' guy friends. We've been playing a game they call Freeze, which is basically acting out different scenes. The one sitting out decides when to call "freeze" then they jump in and take the place of someone and chooses how the skit will continue. It was the first time I played and it was really quite fun.
Food wise, I'm doing fine. I have had some treats, but really very limited amounts - not even full servings sizes. If there's one thing that is certainly different about me its that I'm very conscious of what I'm putting in my mouth. I'm also exercising!
This week on Wednesday, I walked 2.3 miles in approx. 45 minutes. On Thursday, I went for a bike ride. I was shooting for 10 miles, but darkness creeped up on me rather quickly and I only did 7. Today has been raining and the only exercise I've done is walking around the store and playing with the kids. It's movement.
I'm about to enjoy dinner - homemade lasagne made by my husband. He's the cook of the family. I'll have a small piece and possibly a very small sliver of garlic bread. On the side, some saute`d red bell peppers and mushrooms. Sounds like a lot so I'm not sure how much I'll get through; especially being pasta. I can't eat too much of that without feeling extremely and sometimes overly full.
The other day I battled the chocolate demon as I called it. That day I won. Today, I wasn't craving anything chocolate but I chose to eat about 5 or 6 peanut M&M's. The difference between today and the other day...I felt way more in control today. The other day had I given in, I'm quite certain I would've gone overboard.
I'm so grateful I'm finally feeling in control of my eating and my exercise.
I hope your weekend is going well.
♥ Dottie
P.S. I've decided to create a separate page for the Food Diary.

Attack of the Choco-Demon
Choco-demon is the name I have given to that weakness I’m feeling right now. Someone at work brought in this huge jar of candy bars – various types – Hershey with Almonds, KitKat, PayDay, Peanut M&M’s, etc. And I'm not talking the bite or snack size versions. Thanks a ton dear co-worker of mine. Haven’t you noticed I’m trying to work towards being fit and healthy? LOL
The truth is, we are going to be faced with this type of thing every day. It will be a part of our life, and we will have to handle it. Yesterday, I was fine. I never gave that choco-demon a second though. Today is another story. There are parts of me that seriously think that stupid chocolate is calling my name. Crazy! I’m being strong because as I sit here and continue to “work” I realize that the problem with today is – I didn’t get enough sleep last night. Therefore, I’m tired and a bit groggy. Some part of me believes that chocolate just might help. But the stronger part of me knows differently. This morning, I chose to enjoy a veggie omelet with a bit of cheddar cheese. It was quite tasty. I love grilled red bell peppers. So yummy! I haven’t thought about lunch yet, although about an hour or so I’ll venture to the cafĂ© and see what I can find. My thoughts are on the garlicky hummus – man that stuff is good!
The last few days of eating have been OK at best. I’ll admit that I’m not perfect and I did enjoy some no-no’s. Here’s the play by play.
Monday – 9/6/10
Note: Labor Day holiday – traditional festivities usually include grilling out or something like that. We didn’t do a whole lot because it rained the majority of the day.
Dannon Greek Yogurt (Strawberry Flavor)
1 Slice of Little Caesar’s Cheese Pizza – minus the crust with 1 piece of Crazy Bread
½ Chocolate Rice Krispie Treat (I gave in to the Choco-Demon here)
½ cup Clam Chowder with a slice of Swiss Cheese
2 cups popcorn followed later by frozen lemonade.
In looking at this, I pretty much participated in some typical fattening food. I just didn’t eat a lot of it.
Tuesday – 9/7/10
Today was the kid’s first day back to school. That means it tends to be even busier.
Breakfast - ¾ Cup Oatmeal sweetened with brown sugar and raisins with ½ pint of Skim Milk
Lunch – Anti Pasto Cup which consisted of cubed salami, monterey jack and cheddar cheeses.
Snack – ¼ cup Butter Toffee Peanuts (I think this is slightly better than those m&m’s)
Dinner – 1 slice pizza (minus crust) toppings were ham, mushroom, black olives, fresh garlic, onion.
Snack – 1 Mint Skinny Cow Ice Cream Sandwich. Dang – again the sweet.
In reviewing all this, it seems apparent that when my time of the month is approaching (next week), the sweet cravings kick in more than ever! It is this week that I have to be stronger than normal. I also must push that exercise!!
Until next time,
♥ Dottie

Phatloss Weightloss Contest
I've decided to enter a weightloss contest being hosted by a YouTube friend joshuad1000. The contest start date was June 1 and goes for 90 days. I'm actually a little excited.
I'm starting the contest at 295.5 lbs. Ugh! But I can't complain because this time last year, I was around 380. Doing much better there. Each week he is going to put up a theme and possibly a challenge. This week's theme is "Get Up". In other words, if I find myself being lazy sitting around - get up and do something. I'm doing better at moving more. I sit the most at work, but that's because it's the type of job I have.
In addition to that contest, my employer is doing a 6 week long walking challenge that I am a part of. I'm actually a captain to a team of 9. This week's goal is to get 4000 steps per day in. It doesn't have to be just walking either. There's an activity equivalent sheet to 'convert' your activity minutes into steps. Pretty cool. Each week, the goal increases. So far, I'm doing pretty well.
Today, I'm really tired. I'm also getting blood work done this afternoon so I'm doing a 12 hour fast. Kinda stinks because I'm thinking a little food would help give me some energy. I have to wait until after 4 though.
Well...gotta go for now. Take care and enjoy the day!
